The Board of Directors of the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport has appointed Michael MacKinnon as CEO effective June 1, 2017 replacing retiring CEO Helen MacInnis. Mike is a native of Glace Bay and is returning home having spent his entire career in the aviation industry. Under Mike’s leadership the Board reaffirms its mission of providing safe, quality and accessible aviation services and facilities to the travelling public. The Board thanks Helen for her years of service and welcomes Mike to his new role of leading the YQY Sydney team.

The JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport would like to thank the Government of Canada for funding of $970,081 through the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP) for 2017-2018. Our application for funding for a new snowblower ($338,800) and to rehabilitate a taxiway ($631,281) was approved by ACAP! Passengers are reminded to check-in at least 90 minutes before their departure to avoid the risk of being denied boarding.
The airlines are strictly enforcing their check-in cut off time of 45 minutes prior to departure. The terminal is busy with three early morning departures and passengers have to get through security. The airlines finalize their weight and balance calculations 45 minutes prior to departure and that process takes up to 40 minutes. Please check-in 90 minutes prior to your departure to avoid the risk of being denied boarding.
