The J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport are pleased to partner with Autism Nova Scotia and Autism Cape Breton today to host our first Autism Aviators Launch Day on April 27th, 2019.
Autism Aviators is a program developed by Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Autism Nova Scotia to provide information and resources to help prepare individuals on the autism spectrum and their families for travel.
The J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport is the third airport in the country to introduce this innovative program to its airport, after Halifax Stanfield and Charlottetown International Airport.
“We believe that because of the size of our airport and the consistent dedication to quality service exhibited by all of our partner service providers here - the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport is very well suited to ensure that we provide a safe and high-quality environment for travelers who may have special needs. We want our community to know that we’re always here to help make travel a little easier for those who may need it. This program was a logical addition to our lineup of resources” says Courtney Davis, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport
The autism aviators launch day includes going through check-in, baggage check, security screening, baggage pick up and all participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the day.
